Legos and Lincoln logs and Play dough

Legos and Lincoln logs and Play dough

This is my friend, Danielle.  Danielle is not a professional model (although she’s cute enough to be one) but I happen to be the lucky recipient of her friendship.  When I wanted to shoot my new designs and I needed models, she was one of the first to say, ‘yes’.   One of the great things about living on a small island is the ability to build strong friendships and have those friends support you in your endeavors.  Besides Danielle’s winning smile, she has a pretty remarkable life story and its one of the things that I love about her and why I am always so proud when she’s out sporting her island Contessa wear.

When I was little, the only way to build something out of nothing was with my brothers’ Legos and Lincoln logs (showing my age) or a can of Play dough.   Give me that and my imagination could take me anywhere.  Now I’m building something quite different.  It’s a business that wants to make women feel as good as they look.  If you didn’t know this (and you might not), Island Contessa contributes a portion of all of their profits to domestic violence shelters where we are sold.  You don’t have to like quality made garments to appreciate that!  I’m also proud of my American made commitment.  By purchasing Island Contessa, you will never have to worry about poor working conditions or child labor or inferior quality.  Its one of my cornerstones of the business.  Don’t like polyester and the horrible way it feels?  No worries here.  At Island Contessa we only use NATURAL fibers–silk, cotton, hemp and soon, the eco-friendly, bamboo.  It’s about caring how you feel in my designs.

So, now I’m back to my friend Danielle and what this blog is about today.  Danielle believes in me because she knows me.  I can’t personally get to know every single person but you can know everything about Island Contessa and while I’m in the midst of my crowd-funding campaign  http://islandcontessaworldwide.eventbee.com  ; I want you to get to know the brand and consider investing in it.  You’ll get some nice gifts as part of your commitment and you’ll be helping to build a business rooted in quality garments, quality service and making a difference.  I think you’ll be glad you did.  And you can ask Danielle, she’ll vouch for me!

Happy Monday!
Lori
