Love Life

Women's Coalition of St. CroixWhen tragedy happens, as it did in Orlando this past week; the last thing most people think about is fashion.  It makes it even more difficult for me to find the words that seem appropriate for a weekly blog.  But here’s what I DO want to share with you.  When horrible things happen, I feel most at peace, most calm, when I do something–anything that feels constructive.  When I started Island Contessa I wanted to make women look good AND feel good about shopping my line.  That’s why I donate a portion of all of my profits to domestic violence shelters where Island Contessa is sold.  On the island of St. Croix, that’s the Women’s Coalition.  I have told them that my goal is to put them out of business because there will no longer be a need to protect survivors of domestic violence because domestic violence will no longer exist.  That’s my dream anyway.  If you’re angry or sad or depressed because of those young lives lost in Florida, I challenge you to channel that into constructive action–volunteer at a school; walk a shelter dog; give blood but whatever you do, do it for a good cause.  Our time on this green and blue ball is short–make sure you live it well.

**We will be doubling our donations on all online sales through the month of June.  We appreciate your support!
